Growing trend<\/h3>\n

The Tiny House market in Germany has developed steadily in recent years. However, the magnitude is difficult to estimate. Eva says: \u201cIs it a few minimalists or a new movement in the housing market that will grow in the coming years? The first German-language Tiny House market study assumes that the market potential for Tiny Houses will grow strongly in the coming years.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to extensive research and interviews with experts, the basis of the research is a survey of 24 of the approximately 65 Tiny House manufacturers in Germany. Eva explains some of the results of the study: \u201cThe Tiny House associations in Germany, most of which are organized in the Tiny House Association, now have more than 1,500 active members. They do educational work regarding alternative forms of living and bring together those interested in Tiny Houses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Demand development<\/h3>\n

According to the study, 80 percent of German single-person households planning a construction project around 2022 are interested in alternative life forms. 13 percent of them can imagine living in a Tiny House. According to the study, that is about 58,000 potential mini-home owners.<\/p>\n

Eva adds: \u201c83 percent of the Tiny House manufacturers surveyed say minimalism is the main motivation for their customers to buy a Tiny House. Second, there is the desire for affordable housing. According to the research, the third most important reason for a Tiny House is that people want to live more sustainably.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

More ecological and sustainable<\/h3>\n

German fans of living in the smallest of spaces also want to live more ecologically and sustainably. Mobility is not so in the foreground for those interested in tiny houses: \u201cFor only 38 percent that is the reason to buy a Tiny House. According to the market study, most small home buyers buy a Tiny House to live in permanently (58 percent). Only 42 percent use the mini-home as a weekend or holiday residence.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Tiny House cost an average of about 2,300 euros per square meter in 2019. Most Tiny Houses sold in Germany in 2019 had a floor area between 16 and 30 square meters. The Tiny Houses sold were on average 28.7 square meters in size and cost about 67,000 euros.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first Tiny House market study also provides figures for the market volume and market potential for Tiny Houses based on the sales figures of the Tiny House manufacturers. It also provides more detailed insight into the target group for Tiny Houses residents and market parties. Eva: “In addition, the question is answered with the biggest challenges for a further positive development of the Tiny House market in Germany.”<\/p>\n
